I would love to have at least an entry a week on here, to really get into the swing of blogging.
So, a new year has begun. This afternoon I went to chapel to the New Years Service. It was a nice service - the text being
Phillipians 1v12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things [which happened] unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel.
The minister talked about how all thing work out for the best for the Glory of God to those who trust in him.
We had one of my favourite hymns too.
1. God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
2. Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sov’reign will.
3. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
4. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
5. His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flow’r.
6. Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.
and also
1. Be still, my heart! these anxious cares
To thee are burdens, thorns and snares;
They cast dishonor on the Lord,
And contradict His gracious word.
Brought safely by His hand thus far,
Why wilt thou now give place to fear?
How canst thou want if He provide,
Or lose thy way with such a Guide?
Did ever trouble yet befall,
And He refuse to hear thy call?
And has He not His promise passed,
That thou shalt overcome at last?
He who has helped me hitherto
Will help me all my journey through,
And give me daily cause to raise
New Ebenezers to His praise.

Yup! That was our text for today too! And it is a really great one to start the New Year with I thought- to rest assured in God's grace for us and that as long as we love Him, He can use everything in our lives for good. Comforting too when things go wrong, as they will!!
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing you and your family all the best for the New Year and all that it brings to you!
